For Helen
In mourning the loss of a loved one, we are sad for so many things.
The first is the void we will notice.
And that voice that has now taken wings.
But the sounds that we hear, they are more than just words.
There is kindness that hangs on the edges.
The sun seems much brighter, you even feel lighter, a truly amazing thing.
She’s everywhere now all around where we live, in the air, the soft breeze that refreshes.
In the joys and the smiles of small children beside us, in her garden, the blessing’s the thing.
We’re allowed to be sad for a day, for a time, but she’s not really gone, our dear Helen,
Take a look at the view, be inspired, see her smile, take as long as you want, even linger.
There are many fine people, who are here in her shadow, to enjoy every wonderful day.
She got the ball rolling and she’ll keep it all going, in her own quiet sensitive style.
She is yours, she is mine, she will always be kind, in the gifts she has left behind.
